In under a year, María Dueñas has amassed an astonishing string of achievements and accolades to add to what was already an impressive list. From signing with Deutsche Grammophon to releasing her debut album Beethoven and Beyond, via a series of triumphant live performances, the Spanish violinist’s career has continued to go from strength and strength.

Appreciation of Dueñas’s artistry is reflected in both rave reviews and soaring sales and streaming figures. It has also led to her being named as this year’s recipient of one of Spain’s prestigious Princess of Girona Awards, presented at a ceremony attended by the Spanish royal family on 5 July. The jury’s citation praised her ability “to forge close emotional connections with her audiences” and called her “an exceptional role model for young people”.
