She is a singer and songwriter ‘JHWA’ who sings her musical identity across various genres such as Retro K-Pop and Trip hop. She tries to tell her musical stories more detailed than the previous released singles. The first single “We Need Courage” was intended to contain her own story and reveals her musical identity more than any other released singles. It is a song about people who are always hesitant to accept new people and who need great courage. She wants to show this message through the music video. The next two songs and the music videos will be released and awaited because they convey a message that is linked to each other.

중성적이면서 독특한 보이스의 싱어송라이터 ‘제이화’. 전작보다 더욱 구체화한 그녀의 음악적 이야기를 세 개의 시리즈에 걸쳐 들려주려 한다.
총 세 개의 이야기(곡) 중 첫 번째 싱글 곡인 ‘용기가 필요해’는 ‘제이화’ 자신의 이야기를 담고자 했다. 어쩌면 기존의 나왔던 세 싱글 보다 그녀의 음악적 정체성이 가장 잘 드러나는 멜로디와 감성의 곡이라 할 수 있다.
가사의 내용처럼 타인에게 드러내놓기보다 감추고 싶은 초라한 자신의 모습을 노래하고 있는데 ‘제이화’ 뿐 아니라 새로운 사람을 받아들이는 것이 항상 망설여지고 큰 용기가 필요한 사람들에 관한 곡이다. 사실 인간관계에 있어서 서툴고 두려운 것은 아마 모두에게 해당되는 일이다. 그러나 완벽하지 않고 결점이 있는 것이 오히려 자연스러운 인간의 모습이지 않을까?
이와 같은 메시지를 ‘제이화’는 뮤직비디오를 통해 전해주려고 한다. 스토리 속 주인공은 자신 스스로를 가두고 살아가다 이를 대면하고 끝내 벗어나려는 이야기를 보여주고 있다. 신곡인 ‘용기가 필요해’와 함께 앞으로 발표될 두 가지 이야기(곡)와 뮤직비디오는 서로 연결되는 메시지를 전하고 있기 때문에 계속 기대해볼 만하다.
레트로팝, 소울 그리고 트립합등 다양한 장르를 넘나들며 음악적 정체성을 찾아가는 싱어송라이터 ‘제이화’, 그녀만의 개성 있는 음악 세계가 더욱 기대된다.
