The Open Championship has seen players from far and wide grace the oldest golf tournament in the world. The recent triumphs of both Sandy Lyle and Paul Lawrie have written just the latest chapter in the storied and historic success of Scottish golfers at The Open.

At the 114th Open Championship, held in 1985, Lyle fought off a truly global field to claim the Claret Jug at Royal St. George's. It was the final time The Open Championship featured the double cut after both 36 and 54 holes.

14 years later, Paul Lawrie carded a sensational final round 67 to force his way into a play off, having been ten shots off the pace on Sunday morning.

The 128th Open Championship at Carnoustie would go down as one of the most dramatic in history.
