The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Atlanta Braves 7-5 at PNC Park on Thursday afternoon. Ke’Bryan Hayes singled to bring Jason Delay and Josh Palacios home, cutting the Braves lead to 4-2 in the third. The Pirates got their first lead of the day, 5-4, on an RBI single from Liover Peguero and a run scored by Jack Suwinski in the sixth. An RBI triple from Hayes, who drove in three runs for the third straight game, and an RBI single from Peguero in the seventh closed out the scoring for the Pirates. Thomas Hatch threw four shutout innings of relief in his Pirates debut and Colin Holderman earned his second career save with the 7-5 victory.
