The Open Official Film 2009 | Stewart Cink Wins At Turnberry
Turnberry has crowned three great champions during its Open Championship history.
Nick Price in 1994, Greg Norman in 1986 and Tom Watson in 1977. The 138th Open in 2009 was one of the most memorable tournaments in recent history.
Stewart Cink overcame a resurgent Tom Watson, who at 59 years old and only nine months after hip replacement surgery, came very close to winning his sixth Open Championship. Reminding everyone of the quality and passion that Watson had for the game.
Cink and Watson needed a playoff to decide a winner, with the five-time champion being bested by his younger adversary. Cink lifted the Claret Jug (his first major victory), becoming the 25th American player to win The Open.
