The Greatest Major Comeback In History: Paul Lawrie | Every Televised Shot | 128th Open Championship
Paul Lawrie produced one of the most miraculous comebacks The Open had ever seen when he won the 128th Open Championship in 1999.
Lawrie started the final round 10 shots behind scoreboard leader Jean van de Velde at Carnoustie and proceeded to claw his way up the leaderboard.
The Scot played an outstanding round, registering six birdies while his rivals struggled to make their leads count. Lawrie scored -4 for the round, tying the lead with Jean van de Velde and Justin Leonard. This meant a four-hole playoff was needed to decide the winner.
The home favourite found the quality needed to emerge victorious, making a birdie on each of the latter two-holes to win the playoff by three shots.
Lawrie completed the biggest comeback in major championship history in his only major victory.
Relive every shot from this unbelievable championship round and playoff.
