Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, January 7, 2020 - Thailand registered their first victory following a 3-0 (25-16, 25-21, 25-16) win over Chinese Taipei in the AVC Women’s Tokyo Volleyball Qualification tournament at Chatchai Hall in Nakhon Ratchasima on Tuesday.

Thailand head coach Danai Sriwacharamaytakul: "It was our first game of the tournament at home, so I think we started a little bit nervous especially in the beginning of the first and second sets. So to bring the players potential and our level back was quite difficult. I had to encourage them more and I am glad that finally we came back to our own game. This tournament is very important for us, so we need to focus a lot more. We have to improve more on the side-out and service reception.

"We have yet to think of the final as we will focus on one match at a time. We will not underestimate Australia who are our next opponents, as they are very tall with high blocking and they play in a European style. We have to give more speed in order to compete against them."

Thailand team captain Nootsara Tomkom: "I am very happy that we could beat them, but it was not easy at all. We can see our weaknesses and what we have to improve more today. They did a pretty good job in serving and defense which made our attacks reduce in efficiency. We also have to adjust our service reception in the next matches."
