Rory McIlroy | Royal Liverpool 2014 | Great Open Rounds
Following back-to-back rounds of 66 on Thursday and Friday, Rory McIlroy arrived for Round 3 with a commanding four-shot advantage over American Dustin Johnson.
With severe weather threatening to curtail The Open weekend, organises took the decision to set of the players in threesomes off both the 1st and 10th tees.
Seeking his first Claret Jug, McIlroy attacked the par 5s at Royal Liverpool and recorded eagles at both the 16th and 18th, the only player inn the field to do so on Saturday.
He closed with a 68, a round that extended his lead to six strokes after 54 holes with Rickie Fowler the leader of the chasing pack.
