Phil Mickelson's 2004 Open featuring Seve Ballesteros on commentary | Best Of

Phil Mickelson made his Open Championship debut in 1991. By the time he came to The 133rd Open in 2004, he hadn't yet achieved a top-ten finish.

That was about to change for the 'Leftie' at Royal Troon. The American had a slow start, playing 73 in the first round, but made incredible improvements from the second round onwards.

He posted rounds of 66, 68 and 68 to end the tournament in third on nine under par - only beaten by Ernie Els and eventual winner, Todd Hamilton.

This Open Championship was also special thanks to an iconic addition to the commentary team. Seve Ballesteros was in the booth providing a unique insight into the action.

Rehear the thoughts of Seve as you relive the best Phil Mickelson moments from 2004.
