OnBoard the only GKW 862SP Group C Car w/ Porsche 962C Engine at Imola Circuit!

Thanks to the really kind and available driver of this car, Marco Guerra, and my friends Davide458Italia and Italiansupercarvideo, I can show you some footages of this unique Group C monster.

The development of the GKW 862SP started in 1985 when the Italian driver, engineer and Porsche's specialist Gabriele Gottifredi wanted to build a Group C prototype for the "C2" class,
born specifically to allow small private builders and teams to join the championship. This "junior" class had some different rules compared to the "C1" such as 100kg less of total weight, smaller fuel tanks but, of course, further limits on fuel consumption.

The GKW was built around a Porsche 956 gearbox and engine, with revised suspension, chassis etc. It was supposed to run at Le Mans, Fuji and 1988 Monza circuits, where it performed several tests, but did not participate because it was under completion at the appointed date. After this the sponsors retired due to lack of money and the project was stopped and abandoned, adding that in 1990 the C2 class was abolished.

Many years later an Italian enthusiast decided to acquire and restore the GKW in order to race in historic Group C revival championships making its competition debut at the 2016 Grand Prix de l'Age d'Or.
During the re-work process, suspension parts were redesigned to make them more resistant, the feet and front pedal protection was rebuilt stronger plus some other works. At current time the car shouldn't feature the origianal Porsche 956 engine but a twin-turbo configuration of the 3.2-litre flat-6 used in the IMSA/GTP Porsche 962 (so some sort of 962C). This engine is able to produce up to 750hp but the owner preferred to keep a low boost (1 bar) setup and limit the power at around 670hp.
