‘Stage Fright’ is the second of three musical stories. The second story following her previous work, “We Need Courage,” is a musical expression of her own inner story. ‘Stage Fright’ is a song written about the complex emotions that people felt before and after they got on stage. The complex emotions that make the stage that has been prepared and dreamed of for a long time feel more difficult are replaced by an interesting bass guitar line, a drowsy and retro electric guitar, and a chorus vocal with a fun melody. The music video shows her efforts to come out to the outside world without any hesitation.

자신만의 음악적 정체성을 만들어가고 있는 싱어송라이터 제이화(JHWA). 이번 싱글곡은 세개의 시리즈로 구성된 그녀의 음악이야기중 두 번째 이야기 ‘무대공포증’이다. 전작 ‘용기가 필요해’에 이은 두 번째 이야기도 그녀 자신의 내면 이야기를 음악적으로 표현하고 있다.

‘무대공포증’은 무대에 오르기 이전과 이후 느꼈던 복잡한 감정들을 담아 쓴 곡인데, 그때의 긴장되고 두렵기까지 한 감정을 곡 제목과는 역설적으로 가볍고 재미있게 표현하고자 했다. 오랜 시간 동안 준비하고 꿈꿔온 무대가 더 어렵게 느껴지는 그 복잡한 감정들을 흥미로운 베이스기타 라인과 나른하고 레트로한 일렉기타의 연주, 그리고 재밌는 멜로디의 코러스 보컬이 대신하고 있다.

뮤직비디오에서는 한없이 주저하면서도 바깥세상으로 나오려는 그녀의 노력을 나타내고 있는데, 전작 ’용기가 필요해’의 뮤직비디오와 연결 지어 봐도 재미있을 것 같다. 그리고 다음 달에 발매될 마지막 세 번째 에피소드인 ‘섭스타’에서 가두고 있던 자신만의 공간에서 벗어날 수 있는지도 기대해볼 만하다.
