Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato Vs Porsche 911 Dakar - New niche for light off-road Supercars? FOS 2023

Frankly, I don't know what to think of the latest off-road style proposals of the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato and the Porsche 911 Dakar. Indeed, manufacturers are creating a new niche for supercars, and they may be right. At the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed, I had the opportunity to see them both in action, and so, for fun, I wanted to create this comparative video without any pretensions. The Lamborghini sports a 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine capable of delivering 610 Hp and 560 Nm, combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and four-wheel drive with rear limited slip differential. We find a set-up raised by 44 mm and off-road tires that have led to the modification of the tracks: the front and rear are wider by 30 and 34 mm, respectively. Produced in 1,499 units, the speed is reduced to 260 km/h due to the set-up and tyres. Porsche wanted to pay homage to the historic car that won the famous Paris-Dakar African raid rally in 1984. Moreover, it was the first 911 with four-wheel drive. Built in 2,500 units, it adopts a raised structure 50 mm higher than a standard 911 Carrera; we find reinforcements in the underbody, forged aluminium tow hooks and carbon fibre and composite (CFRP) bonnet taken from the 911 GT3. Installing a storage basket with a maximum capacity of 48 kg and lights powered by a 12 Volt connector is possible on the roof. The tires are Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus. The car is technically based on the 911 GTS 4 and therefore adopts the 3-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder boxer engine, which develops 480 hp and 570 Nm of torque combined with all-wheel drive with PTM and the eight-speed PDK gearbox. Also, the maximum speed for the Porsche is limited to 240 km/h due to the off-road tyres. Francamente non so cosa pensare delle ultimi propose in stile off-road della Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato e della Porsche 911 Dakar. Certamente i costruttori stanno creando una nuova nicchia per le supercars e potrebbero aver ragione loro. Al 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed ho avuto l'occasione di vederle entrambe in azione e così, per divertimento, ho voluto creare questo video comparativo, senza nessuna pretesa. La Lamborghini sfoggia il motore V10 aspirato da 5.2-litri in grado di erogare 610 Hp e 560 Nm, abbinato al cambio cambio automatico a doppia frizione a 7 marce ed alla trazione integrale con differenziale autobloccante posteriore. Troviamo un assetto rialzato di 44 mm e pneumatici da fuoristrada che hanno comportato la modifica delle careggiate: anteriore e posteriore sono più larghe rispettivamente di 30 e 34 mm. Prodotta in 1.499 esemplari ha una velocità minitata a 260 km/h per via di assetto e pneumatici. La Porsche ha voluto omaggiare la storica vettura che vinse il famoso rally raid africano Parigi-Dakar nel 1984. Oltretutto si trattava della prima 911 a trazione integrale. Costruita in 2.500 esemplari adotta un'assetto rialzato di 50 mm più alto rispetto ad una normale 911 Carrera; troviamo rinforzi nel sottoscocca, ganci per il traino in alluminio forgiato e un cofano in fibra di carbonio e compositi (CFRP) ripreso dalla 911 GT3. Sul tetto è possibile installare un cestello portaoggetti dalla portata massima di 48 kg e dotato di fari alimentati da un connettore a 12 Volt. Come pneumatici troviamo i Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus. La vettura è tecnicamente basata sulla 911 GTS 4 quindi adotta il motore sei cilindri boxer biturbo da 3-litri che sviluppa 480 hp e 570 Nm di coppia abbinato alla trazione integrale con PTM ed al cambio a otto rapporti PDK. Anche per la Porsche la velocità massima, per via delle gomme da fuoristrada, è limitata a 240 km/h.
