After a divorce left her with nothing, Marilyn Rexroth (Catherine Zeta-Jones) is determined to make her next marriage last; at least that's what she wants everyone to think. But her divorce lawyer, Miles Massey (George Clooney), seems to be privy to her schemes when she announces that she's getting married to wealthy oil baron, Howard D. Doyle (Billy Bob Thorton).
