Ferrari 512 BB Competizione (1980) - TrackDay + OnBoard at Red Bull Ring - Challenge & GT Days 2020

This is an extraordinary car for me. I had the pleasure of filming a rare 1980 Ferrari 512 BB Competizione at the Challenge & GT Days 2020 event. We are at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, and I have to thank the owner enormously for being so kind to me and allowing to install an action-cam inside. The car you see, chassis 31159, is equipped with the original "Le Mans" kit produced by Ferrari which was installed immediately after the purchase by the first owner, Mr Markus Kiesgen, one of the founders of the Ferrari Club Deutschland. The changes made have increased the power of the 5.0-Liters Flat-12 engine to 460hp, and at the same time, a weight reduction has been made to 1,230Kg. Aerodynamically the aesthetics have changed; the headlights have become faired, front splitter and a large rear wing have been added. The wheel arches have also been widened to accommodate larger wheels. With this configuration, the car raced in Germany from 1980 to 1985. In 2006 it underwent a major restoration by Bratke Motorsport which overhauled the engine, restored the bodywork, installed an FT3 racing tank and an FIA approved roll bar. Over the years it has undergone a further reconstruction of the engine which currently develops 475hp. Each work has been documented, and the car has all the FIA ​​certifications to participate in the races for vintage cars. In 2018 the 512 BB Competizione took part in the Le Mans Classic. In February 2019 it went to sell in Paris at RM Auctions.

Questa è per me un'auto straordinaria. Ho avuto il piacere di filmare un'esemplare di Ferrari 512 BB Competizione del 1980 durante l'evento Challenge & GT Days 2020. Ci troviamo al Red Bull Ring in Austria e devo ringraziare enormemente il proprietario per essere stato così gentile nei miei confronti e permettermi di installare una action-cam all'interno dell'abitacolo. La vettura che vedete, telaio 31159 è dotata del kit "Le Mans" originale prodotto dalla Ferrari che venne installato subito dopo l'acquisto dal primo proprietario, il Sig. Markus Kiesgen, uno dei fondatori del Ferrari Club Deutschland. Le modifiche apportate hanno aumentato la potenza del motore 5.0-Litri Flat-12 a 460cv e nel contempo è stata operata una riduzione di peso asestandosi sui 1.230Kg. A livello aerodinamico l'estetica ha subito cambiamenti, i fari sono diventati carenati, sono stati aggiunti splitter anteriore e una grande ala posteriore. Anche i passaruota sono stati allargati per ospitare ruote di maggiori dimensioni. Con questa configurazione la vettura ha gareggiato in Germania dal 1980 al 1985. Nel 2006 ha subito un profondo restauro da parte di Bratke Motorsport che ha revisionato motore, restaurato la carrozzeria, installato un serbatoio da corsa FT3 ed un roll bar approvato FIA. Negli anni ha subito un'ulteriore ricostruzione del motore che attualmente sviluppa 475cv. Ogni lavoro è stato documentato e l'auto dispone di tutte le certificazioni FIA per partecipare alle gare per vetture d'epoca. Nel 2018 ha preso parte alla Le Mans Classic. A Febbraio 2019 è andata all'asta a Parigi presso RM Auctions .
