Daniel Barenboim, John Williams, Berlin Phil – Rodrigo: Concierto de Aranjuez, I.Allegro con spirito

Argentinian pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim's unique affinity to music from Latin climes is shown impressively in this concert with the Berliner Philharmoniker from 1988 at the Waldbühne amphitheater. The special performance begins with such familiar works as Ravel's Bolero and Bizet's Carmen Suite, with guitarist John Williams joining for a performance of Joaquín Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, then moves into a broad array of Latinate works.

The second half of this exotic program presents Latin American works by lesser-known composers, such as Ginastera’s Estancia Suite, Op. 8a, Lecuona’s La Comparsa, Piazzolla’s Adiós Nonino and ends with Paul Linke's Frau Luna and Berliner Luft.
