Claudio Abbado's Mahler performances have always been extraordinary because their impact never came at the expense of the many sensitivities, complexities, and high level of expertise. Together with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester (GMJO), the world’s leading youth orchestra founded by Claudio Abbado himself, the ensemble and the great conductor performs an extended excerpt from the love scene and farewell from Arnold Schönberg's beautiful and lyrical symphonic poem 'Pelleas und Melisande'.

The excerpt is taken from a concert of Claudio Abbado conducting the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester in Mahler's 4th symphony and Schoenberg's symphonic poem 'Pelleas und Melisande', Op. 5.
