Jazz vocalist Hyunsun Park’s new EP, [Spring Dance] (2020)

Hyunsun Park is a jazz vocalist and also the lead vocalist of an alternative band [Time Machine Circuit].
She has a clear, warm and tender voice. Her breath and interpretation of music are very delicate and make the audience immersed in her music.

박현선은, 뱉는 소리 못지않게 ‘머금는’ 소리에 강점을 지닌 보컬리스트다. 시류에 영합하는 자극적인 음색이나
억지로 귀를 간질이려 애쓰는 얄팍한 소리보다, 은근한 관능미로 차분히 귀를 기울이게 하는 비음(鼻音) 섞인 노래가 역설적으로 큰 존재감을 갖는 것도 같은 맥락에서 이해되는 대목이다. 10년 전의 첫 앨범에 이어 근년 들어 록 밴드 “타임머신써킷”의 멤버로 활동 중인 박현선이 정갈한 공간미로 가득한 미니 앨범을 선보인다. 재즈 보컬리스트로서의 건재를 알리는 이 곡들이 2020년에 발표될 두 번째 정규 앨범을 더욱 기다리게 한다. (재즈비평가 김현준)
