Alfa Romeo 12C Prototipo One-Off (1941) - 4.5-Litre V12 Supercharged Engine - Goodwood FOS 2022

Finally, I admired the extraordinary 1941 Alfa Romeo 12C Prototipo. This One-off was performed during the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Born before the Second World War, it was supposed to participate in the 1941 1000 Miglia, but this did not happen. Traces of a one-of-a-kind car were lost, and after 80 years of silence here, it's finally driven by the Swiss owner Stefano Martinoli. The owner found the car in pieces, the bodywork removed from the specially modified 8C 2900 chassis. The 4.5 litres V12 single camshaft engine was designed by Gioacchino Colombo, but the tests to develop it were not wholly completed. Upon discovery, the car had damaged bodywork, and a conservative restoration was carried out, leaving the original paint. Thousands of hours were needed to put the car back on road, as regards the engine and mechanics, effectively completing the car's development which at the time had not been completed by Alfa Romeo technicians. Even now, the 12c Prototipo is continuously improved and driven with the proper attention because it's a truly unique piece. Finalmente ho potuto ammirare la straordinaria Alfa Romeo 12C Prototipo del 1941. Questa One-off si è esibita durante il Goodwood Festival of Speed del 2022. Nata prima della seconda guerra mondiale avrebbe dovuto prendere parte alla 1000 Miglia del 1941 ma questo non avvenne. Si persero le tracce di una vettura unica nel suo genere e dopo 80 anni di silenzio eccola finalmente guidata dal proprietario svizzero Stefano Martinoli. L'auto fu trovata dal proprietario a pezzi, la carrozzeria era stata tolta dal telaio 8C 2900 appositamente modificato. Il motore V12 4.5 litri con singolo albero a camme è stato progettato da Gioacchino Colombo ma i test per svilupparlo all'epoca non vennero completamente portati a termine. Al ritrovamento la vettura aveva la carrozzeria danneggiata e si è proceduto con un restauro conservativo lasciano la vernice originale. Migliaia di ore sono state necessarie per rimettere la vettura in sesto, anche per quanto riguarda motore e meccanica portando a termine, di fatto, lo sviluppo della vettura che all'epoca non era stata terminata dai tecnici Alfa Romeo. Tutt'ora la 12c Prototipo viene continuamente migliorata e guidata ma con la giusta attenzione perchè si tratta di un vero pezzo unico. Ringraziamo il proprietario per averla portata in Inghilterra in modo che tutti gli appassionati potessero vederla.
