The DP World Tour remains in Australia and South Africa for the second week running as ISPS Handa Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club is one of two events to continue the Opening Swing. Adrian Meronk returns this week to defend his title. He managed a 32T finish at the DP World Tour Championship at the end of a brilliant 2023 season where he grabbed three victories and dual status on the PGA TOUR. He’ll be looking to improve on the 40T finish at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship last week. Australia’s Min Woo and Minjee Lee are set to make it a family affair in their home country. Last month, Min Woo won the Asian Tour’s Macau Open, a week before two-time women’s Major champion Minjee captured the LPGAs BMW Championship in South Korea. Min Woo Lee finished third in last year’s ISPS HANDA Australian Open and will be feeling buoyant after claiming victory at the Australian PGA Championship last week. Lucas Herbert will also be teeing it up at Royal Queensland Golf Club this week. He’ll be looking to improve on a 7T finish at the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship last week. Others to look out for are Cam Smith, Adam Scott, Ryo Hisatsune and Robert MacIntyre.

Dan Bradbury returns this year to defend his title. His appearance as a sponsors invite turned into a remarkable wire-to-wire victory at the Joburg Open last year to claim his maiden title by three shots in just his third event on the DP World Tour. He’ll be feeling confident this week having not finished outside the top 20 in his last four DP World Tour starts. Romain Langasque will also be in South Africa this week. He’ll be looking to build on a strong 11T finish at the DP World Championship last week. Zander Lombard will be teeing it up in his home country this week. He played brilliantly for a T2 finish at the acciona Open de España presented by Madrid in October and claimed a solid 22T finish last week at the DP World Tour Championship. The DP World Tour returns to Jumeirah Golf Estates this week for the 15th edition of the DP World Tour Championship as the top 50 on the Race to Dubai compete in the season-ending Rolex Series finale. Rory McIlroy’s fifth Race to Dubai title is already secured coming into the week, but the Northern Irishman is bidding to close out his season by winning the DP World Tour Championship for a third time and first since 2015. The World Number Two has won twice this season in nine starts and claimed a further five top tens. Jon Rahm comes into the week looking to successfully defend his title. Young Tiger's First Top Three Finish At The Open in 1998 | Best Of

A top prospect with great talent and a competitive spirit, the Tiger Woods of 1998 was making a name for himself in the sporting world.

The American had already made three appearances at The Open and was The 1997 Masters champion before The 127th Open in 1998.

At Royal Birkdale Woods made a strong start and continued to show his class throughout the tournament, consistently remaining near the top of the leaderboard. This earned him a well-deserved third-place finish, just one shot behind Brian Watts and eventual winner Mark O'Meara.

Defending The Open Championship is an achievement that few players have achieved over the past 100 years - and winning the Claret Jug doesn't guarantee a good performance in the following year's Championship.

In 1992, Sir Nick Faldo won his third Open title. A year later Faldo arrived at Royal St George's for The 122nd Open in a bid to regain the title.

The Englishman battled to get himself within touching distance of winning a fourth Open but was narrowly beaten by eventual champion Greg Norman.

These are the best moments from Sir Nick's spirited title defence from 1993.

An American Hero At St Andrews | Payne Stewart 1990 | Best Of

Payne Stewart was a formidable competitor at The Open during the 1980s - securing four top-ten finishes across seven Open Championships, including a second-place finish in 1985.

In 1990, St Andrews played host to The 119th Open and Stewart continued his impressive run of form.

In his first three rounds the American shot a hattrick of 68s placing him in tied second going into the final round. Unfortunately for the man adorned in the colours of the American flag, he was unable to catch the eventual winner, Sir Nick Faldo. However, he did secure his second runners-up finish at The Open Championship.

The DP World Tour returns to Jumeirah Golf Estates this week for the 15th edition of the DP World Tour Championship as the top 50 on the Race to Dubai compete in the season-ending Rolex Series finale. Rory McIlroy’s fifth Race to Dubai title is already secured coming into the week, but the Northern Irishman is bidding to close out his season by winning the DP World Tour Championship for a third time and first since 2015. The World Number Two has won twice this season in nine starts and claimed a further five top tens. Jon Rahm comes into the week looking to successfully defend his title. He’s managed subsequent top tens on the DP World Tour in his last two starts at the BMW PGA Championship and acciona Open de España presented by Madrid. The Spaniard arrives in Dubai with the chance to claim a record-extending fourth DP World Tour Championship and sixth Rolex Series title. Adrian Meronk will also fancy his chances this week. The Pole heads into the final event of the DP World Tour campaign as the only player to have won three titles this season. He’s also hopeful of grabbing exemptions into THE PLAYERS Championship and the Charles Schwab Challenge in 2024. The DP World Tour returns to Sun City this week for the penultimate event of the season as the Race to Dubai nears a climax with the Nedbank Golf Challenge at the Gary Player Country Club. Tommy Fleetwood returns to defend his titles and will aim to become the first player to win three consecutive editions of the Nedbank Golf Challenge. Fleetwood will be looking to surpass South African great Ernie Els as a three-time champion. He'll be playing alongside fellow Ryder Cup teammates Justin Rose, Robert MacIntyre, and Nicolai Højgaard, while Vice Captain Francesco Molinari is returning to the event for the first time in six years. MacIntyre comes into the week on the back of his seventh top ten of the campaign in Qatar last month, while Højgaard has managed 25T or better in his last four events, including a 4th place finish at the Cazoo Open de France at the end of September. PGA TOUR stars Max Homa and Justin Thomas will also be in Sun City this week. They’re looking to become the first American winner of this event since Jim Furyk’s second victory in 2006. Others to look out for are Ryan Fox, Victor Perez, Adrian Meronk, and Rasmus Højgaard.

Padraig Harrington's Open Championship Debut | Best Of 1996

Hideki Matsuyama's Open Debut in 2013 | Best Of

Arriving at The 142nd Open Championship, Hideki Matsuyama may have been a rookie, but he certainly was not lacking pedigree. Already a top-50 player in the world, a three-time winner on the Japanese Tour and a top-10 finisher in the previous month's U.S. Open, the 21-year-old was quickly becoming a force to be reckoned with.

Matsuyama provided further evidence of his rich talent with another top-10 at Muirfield, as a final round of 70 secured a share of sixth.
